Gavin
and his team
I am one of twelve senators representing the people of Victoria
in the Commonwealth Parliament. Sitting in the Senate enables
me to pursue issues which are important to all Victorians, Australians
and the nation as a whole.
Along with my team — Helen McMurtry, Clancy Dobbyn, Liz
Day and Sarah Wickham— I am available to assist individuals and community
organisations on a wide range of federal issues some of which
include trade, housing, workers rights, education and health.
If you are having difficulties or problems with a federal government
agency, such as Centrelink, feel free to contact my office for
some assistance. I certainly cannot promise to fix every problem,
however my office and I will endeavour to assist you in whichever
way we can.
As a team my staff advise me on matters relating to my Parliamentary
work, preparing research and briefs, meeting with stakeholders
and holding consultative forums on different issues. My team
can also provide advice and information on the policies of the
Labor Party.
As well as working on local issues, I sit on a number of Senate
committees looking into important national issues and legislation
drafted by the Federal Government. It is important that members
of the community participate in Senate committees in order to
bolster the democratic process and to have a say on the issues
that affect them directly. For further information on Senate
committee and about my role as a member of a number of them,
please see Gavin
in the Senate.
You can contact any of my staff to arrange meetings if you want
to discuss an issue in person. Alternatively, you are welcome
to phone, fax, or send an email.
Helen, Gavin, Liz, Sarah and I are always available to help people
in the community. Please don't hesitate to contact us with your
issues of concern.
